Abstract

A new genus and species, Pilosimitra buckii (Sematophyllaceae, Musci), from Costa Rica is described and illustrated. This new genus differs from all other members of the family in having an autapomorphic or derived character, densely hairy calyptra, plus a combination of several other characters not seen in other genera in the family.
