Additionally, at least three undescribed species from the Southwest have been incorrectly identified as </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>A. glauca</em></span><span lang="en-GB">. The holotype of </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>A. glauca</em></span><span lang="en-GB"> has not been located. Since </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>A. glauca</em></span><span lang="en-GB"> is presently used to refer to multiple species, a neotype is designated which places </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>A. glauca</em></span><span lang="en-GB"> into synonymy with </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Calyptoproctus marmoratus</em></span><span lang="en-GB">. We establish a new genus, </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Scaralina</em></span><span lang="en-GB">, into which it is placed, giving the new combination </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Scaralina</em></span> <span lang="en-GB"><em>marmorata</em></span><span lang="en-GB"> (Spinola), along with three southwestern, one Texan, and ten Mesoamerican taxa, named here as new species: </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>S. aethrinsula</em></span><span lang="en-GB">, </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>S. chapina</em></span><span lang="en-GB">, </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>S. cristata</em></span><span lang="en-GB">, </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>S. durango</em></span><span lang="en-GB">, </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>S. gigantea</em></span><span lang="en-GB">, </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>S. hawksi</em></span><span lang="en-GB">, </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>S. metcalfi</em></span><span lang="en-GB">, </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>S. monzoni</em></span><span lang="en-GB">, </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>S. obfusca</em></span><span lang="en-GB">, </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>S. obrienae</em></span><span lang="en-GB">, </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>S. orientalis</em></span><span lang="en-GB">,</span><span lang="en-GB"><em> S. rileyi</em></span><span lang="en-GB">,</span><span lang="en-GB"><em> S. sullivani</em></span><span lang="en-GB">, and </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>S. veracruzensis</em></span><span lang="en-GB">. Additionally, one new species of </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Scaralis</em></span><span lang="en-GB"> in a new subgenus, </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Scaralis (Alphinoides) inbio</em></span><span lang="en-GB">, is described from Costa Rica and Guatemala. The limited information available suggests these insects feed on oaks (</span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Quercus</em></span><span lang="en-GB">). The single defining putative synapomorphy for the subtribe Calyptoproctina is the enlarged apical plate on the female abdomen, which is absent in at least two members of </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Scaralina</em></span><span lang="en-GB">, and is also present in some genera that belong outside of Poiocerinae, so we reject the recognition of this subtribe. We consider that </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Scaralina</em></span><span lang="en-GB"> is probably more closely related to the genus </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Scaralis</em></span><span lang="en-GB"> Stål than to </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Alphina</em></span><span lang="en-GB"> Stål. Based on morphology, some species originally described in </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Scaralis</em></span><span lang="en-GB"> appear to be more closely related to one another than to the type species of the genus, and are here placed in a new subgenus, </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Alphinoides</em></span><span lang="en-GB">; </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Scaralis</em></span> <span lang="en-GB"><em>fluvialis</em></span><span lang="en-GB"> Lallemand and </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Scaralis</em></span> <span lang="en-GB"><em>nigronotata</em></span><span lang="en-GB"> Stål, plus three species originally described in </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Poiocera</em></span><span lang="en-GB">; </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Scaralis</em></span> <span lang="en-GB"><em>quadricolor</em></span><span lang="en-GB"> (Walker) (the type species of </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Alphinoides</em></span><span lang="en-GB">), </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Scaralis</em></span> <span lang="en-GB"><em>semilimpida</em></span><span lang="en-GB"> (Walker), and </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Scaralis</em></span> <span lang="en-GB"><em>spectabilis</em></span><span lang="en-GB"> (Walker). In 2022 five additional species were described, all of them from the Espinhaço Mountain Range, in the states of Minas Gerais and Bahia, Brazil. During an aquatic insect survey in three states in the Northeast region of Brazil, we collected two new species of </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Ephydrolithus</em></span><span lang="en-GB"> in the states of Bahia, Ceará and Pernambuco, one of the new species collected in the two latter states, represent the first record of this genus outside the Espinhaço Mountain Range, expanding its distribution to other Brazilian states. The objective of this study is to describe two new species of </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Ephydrolithus </em></span><span lang="en-GB">based on both male and female specimens. The species is widely distributed in all natural zones of the country but occurs sporadically. Almost everywhere in Ukraine </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>E. hirtus</em></span><span lang="en-GB"> tends to decrease in abundance due to the reduction of pastures, a habitat to which this species is strictly specialized. Here we review all known records of </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>E. hirtus</em></span><span lang="en-GB"> in Ukraine summing up its distribution and bionomics in the country. (Decapoda: Brachyura: Gecarcinucidae) from the Central Western Ghats of India</strong> https://mapress.com/zt/article/view/zootaxa.5443.1.6 <p align="left"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span lang="en-GB">A new species of gecarcinucid freshwater crab, </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Ghatiana dvirupa</em></span> <span lang="en-GB"><strong>sp. nov.</strong></span><span lang="en-GB">, is described herein from the Kali Tiger Reserve of the Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka state, India. The Kali Tiger Reserve is a protected area, which is situated in the Central Western Ghats. The new species superficially most resembles </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Ghatiana sanguinolenta </em></span><span lang="en-GB">Pati, Thackeray &amp; Pawar, 2023, from Karnataka but can easily be distinguished mainly by its ultimate article of the male first gonopod, which is distally gently curved inwards against the gently outwardly curved distal portion of the ultimate article in the latter species. </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Ghatiana dvirupa</em></span> <span lang="en-GB"><strong>sp. nov.</strong></span><span lang="en-GB"> is also compared with the remaining species of the genus from Karnataka and some morphologically related species from Maharashtra. The difference in colour in life has been noticed between males and females of </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>G. dvirupa</em></span> <span lang="en-GB"><strong>sp. nov.</strong></span><span lang="en-GB">; as such the common name of the new species is proposed as “Mr. and Mrs. Ghat Crab”. </span><span lang="en-GB"><em>Ghatiana</em></span><span lang="en-GB"> Pati &amp; Sharma, 2014, is now known for 13 species, all from the Western Ghats of India.
