Abstract
Nearly all of the Pottiaceous mosses described by G. Negri were recently studied. Six reductions to synonymy are proposed. Tortella fragillima P.de la Varde is Tortella alpicola Dixon. Comments on several nomina nuda are given. Several taxa are reported new for various African countries.
