Abstract

Treatment with sodium hypochlorite, as commercial bleach product, 20 % diluted in distilled water, allows restoring the form and the structure in cells and tissues from very damage and collapsed herbarium specimens of delicate liverworts. Additionally, the technique allows the cell clearing or bleaching of the samples, facilitating the observation and the microphotography with microscopes of transmitted light.
