Abstract
The diversity of skippers is astonishing and still poorly understood. Here, we utilize morphological and molecular evidence to support the description of a monotypic new genus belonging to the diverse subtribe Moncina (Hesperiinae): Artinoides Medeiros & Dolibaina gen. nov.. This new genus is described and illustrated to include a new species, Artinoides ilina Medeiros & Dolibaina sp. nov., from the Brazilian Amazon. The new genus is similar to Artines Godman, 1901 in its wing color pattern, but it can be differentiated by several characters concerning the antenna, labial palpus, wing pattern, and genitalia.
