Discovery of the Tropicohilara amazonensis Marques, Daugeron & Rafael (Diptera, Empididae, Hilarini) female, with new geographical records for the genus

Abstract

The female for a fourth species of the recently described Brazilian empidid genus, Tropicohilara Marques, Daugeron & Rafael, 2023 has been discovered. The first female representative of T. amazonensis Marques, Daugeron & Rafael, 2023 is described and illustrated based on three specimens. One from near the type locality (Amazonas state, Manaus), and two others representing the first record of the genus in the Amapá state. Additionally, T. paranaensis Marques, Daugeron & Rafael, 2023 is recorded by a female for Rio de Janeiro state.
