New Country Records and Regional Distribution Updates for Coreidae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) from Peru

Abstract

Coreidae is the fifth largest family within Heteroptera, comprising more than 2600 species classified into approximately 693 genera. This family is particularly diverse in the Neotropical Region. Despite this high diversity, taxonomic and distributional knowledge of Peruvian Coreidae remains limited. Here, we report 12 species collected during multiple expeditions conducted by the Centro de Investigación Zoológica in Cusco Department and neighboring areas. Six species are recorded for the first time from Peru: Crinocerus sanctus (Fabricius, 1775), Leptoglossus halatus Brailovsky and Barrera, 2024, Anasa auricularia Brailovsky, 1985, Anasa varicornis (Westwood, 1842), Nyttum punctatum (Dallas, 1852), and Spartocera melas Brailovsky, 1987. Additionally, new departmental records are provided for six species: Camptischium clavipes (Fabricius, 1803) (Cusco), Leptoglossus gonagra (Fabricius, 1775) (Cusco), Piezogaster rubropictus (Montandon, 1897) (Cusco), Euagona diana Dallas, 1852 (Madre de Dios), Spartocera batatas (Fabricius, 1798) (Cusco), and Sephina pustulata (Fabricius, 1803) (Cusco).
