Abstract

We describe a new section (Astragalus sect. Rupertii A.E. Estrada, Villarreal & A.Delgado) from Mexico, its particular morphological features are, stipules free; calyx suboblong–urceolate to subglobose–urceolate, with subulate to triangular subulate teeth of the same size than tube; ovules 4; and pod 6–8 mm long, concealed by the calyx. The new section includes two endemic species from the state of Coahuila, Astragalus rupertii & A. pomphocalyx.
