Abstract

A new species of the Neotropical grasshopper, Episomacris rondonienses sp. nov., is described based on individuals collected in Porto Velho, Rondônia State, Brazil. The species inhabits shrubs in rainforest environments. In this study, we provide a detailed morphological description accompanied by illustrations, highlighting the most significant diagnostic features of the external morphology, as well as male and female genitalia. Information on type specimens, identification key to the species, habitat preferences, examined material, and geographic distribution maps is also presented.
