Abstract

This study describes a new jewel beetle species from Sarawak, Malaysia in northwestern Borneo, Habroloma (Malobroha) sarawakense Tamadera, sp. nov., representing the first species of the subgenus Malobroha reported from Southeast Asia. Detailed morphological description, including hidden external structures, for instance the hind wing, abdominal tergites, and terminalia, is provided with many photographs and line drawings to systematically understand the subgenus. Additionally, a list of Habroloma species in Borneo is provided. Novel morphological findings for Malobroha and its diagnostic character states are briefly reviewed by comparing with related genera and subgenera, and finally potential unique character states which may support the monophyly of Malobroha are discussed.
