Abstract
Formerly, only one species of Neotrichia, N. esmalda (Mosely), was recorded from Costa Rica. In a recent publication, 10 new species and 13 new country records were added to Costa Rica’s fauna. The resulting 24 total species are all members of the Neotrichia canixa species group. In this publication we add 19 new species (N. arena sp. nov., N. camaronal sp. nov., N. corcovada sp. nov., N estiletea sp. nov., N. guanacastensis sp. nov., N. guinealensis sp. nov., N. jaba sp. nov., N. laselva sp. nov., N. lengua sp. nov., N. limonensis sp. nov., N. martiza sp. nov., N. orosiensis sp. nov., N. pitilla sp. nov., N. pizotensis sp. nov., N. suretka sp. nov., N. tizatensis sp. nov., N. tortuguera sp. nov., N. ubrevaca sp. nov., and N. uxorum sp. nov.) and 22 new country records of Neotrichia, all of which are in non-canixa species groups or unassigned. In addition, Neotrichia amplector Keth, 2004 is synonymized with N. vazquezae Bueno-Soria & Santiago-Fragoso, 1995, new synonymy. Finally, the degree of affinity of Costa Rica’s Neotrichia species with other countries and regions is also discussed. There are now 65 species of Neotrichia known from Costa Rica, the highest diversity for this genus in any Neotropical country.
