Coleoptera ant-loving beetle Asia Clavigerini Clavigeritae myrmecophily new species taxonomy

Abstract

A new species of Anaclasiger, A. stephanei Cabon, sp. nov., is described from Hong Kong, bringing the number of species in the genus to three, alongside A. sinuaticollis Raffray, 1890, and A. zhudaiae Yin & Huang, 2012. It is mainly characterized by its very small size, small eyes, subparallel temples, abdomen narrower than elytra, and male lacking tibial modifications. The new species, likely associated with Nylanderia picta (Wheeler, 1927), is illustrated together with its habitat. An updated distribution map and identification key to species of Anaclasiger are also provided.
