Abstract

Two new species of Dicroscelio Kieffer, 1913, D. flavus sp. nov. and D. rufescens sp. nov. are described based on Japanese specimens. Although some morphological characters of D. flavus sp. nov. are atypical for the genus, it is provisionally assigned to Dicroscelio based on overall morphological similarity. In addition, previous records of D. frequens (Priesner, 1951) from Japan are shown to be based on misidentification of D. ancillus (Kozlov & Lê, 2000). A key to the Japanese species of Dicroscelio is also provided.
