Abstract

The F-0 larva of Orthemis discolor (Burmeister, 1839) is redescribed based on reared specimens from Argentina and Colombia. Diagnostic morphological characters, including mandibular formula, labial palp armature, premental setation, abdominal sclerotization, and caudal appendages, are detailed and illustrated. The examined material confirms the identity of South American larvae and supports the reassignment of several historical records previously attributed to O. ferruginea to O. discolor. Comparative analysis within the “ferruginea” group reveals a unique combination of characters useful for species delimitation.
