Abstract

The terrestrial isopods from Afghanistan are poorly investigated so that only one species is recorded from this region. In the present study, five species collected from Parwan province, Afghanistan, were identified, and all represent new records for both the province as for Afghanistan. Desertoniscus armenicus (Borutzky, 1975) comb. nov. is proposed for Protracheoniscus armenicus, and Mongoloniscus persicus Kashani, 2014 was synonymized with it. Moreover, Protracheoniscus maracandicus (Uljanin, 1875) is redescribed.
