Trichoptera Caddisfly Immature stages DNA barcoding Taxonomy

Abstract

We report the discovery of adults and larvae of the caddisfly genus Psilotreta from Xi-an City and An-kang City, Shaanxi Province, China. By extracting and analyzing COI barcode sequences from five adults and five larvae, we successfully associated the larvae with two known species: Psilotreta jaroschi Malicky 1995 and P. qinglingshanensis Mey & Yang 2001. This study presents the first description of larvae for both species, along with photographic documentation and diagnostic morphological characteristics. Additionally, a key to the currently described larvae of Psilotreta is provided.
