Hymenoptera parasitoid wasp Phygadeuontinae new species key

Abstract

The genus Polyaulon Förster 1869 (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae) is a poorly studied group of parasitoid wasps previously comprising eleven species, distributed in Holarctic and Oriental Regions. Here we describe three new species from China based on female morphology: one apterous species, P. rotundus sp. nov., with parasitism observation of a possible new host, and two macropterous species, P. hangzhouensis sp. nov. and P. fuscus sp. nov. An updated key to females of all fourteen known species is provided. Our finding represents the first record of Polyaulon from mainland China, and substantially expands the known diversity and distribution of this rare genus in East Asia.
