Abstract
The Jureia-Itatins Ecological Station is one of the largest conservation unit in southeastern Brazil, which became a symbol for the preservation of the Atlantic rain forest. The work presents the richness and composition of the bryoflora from E.E.J.I., and therefore includes a list of the bryophytes species for different ecosystems of this area. The list comprises 94 species recorded in the literature and data of the material, which is deposited in the Herbarium Maria Eneyda Pacheco Kauffmann Fidalgo (SP). The study adds 184 (66%) of the 278 species, which are now known to compose the local bryoflora. This total represents one third of the bryophyte species recorded for São Paulo state, and shows that the E.E.J.I. is an important conservation unit in protecting the “paulista” bryoflora diversity. Added to this, Leskeodon cubensis (Mitt.) Thér. is a new record for Brazil, and Atractylocarpus brasiliensis (Müll. Hal.) R. S. Williams, Cololejeunea clavatopapillata Steph., Orthostichopsis tetragona (Sw. ex Hedw.) Broth., Radula pocsii K. Yamada, and Taxithelium portoricense R. S. Williams represent new records for São Paulo state.
