bryophyte checklist Indochina moss Vietnam

Abstract

The updated checklist of the mosses of Vietnam includes a systematic arrangement of the genera and families, an alphabetic listing of the accepted species, a supplementary list of synonyms, and taxonomic annotations. A total of 719 moss species, including 44 infraspecific taxa, from 213 genera and 59 families are recognized for Vietnam. Three families (Climaciaceae, Grimmiaceae, and Orthorrhynchiaceae), 16 genera, and 91 species are reported new to Vietnam, including eight genera and 65 species new to the Greater Indochina. Ten family names are newly introduced to the moss flora of Vietnam following a recent classification of the mosses. Four new combinations are made: Anomodon viticulosus var. leptocladus (Besch.) S. He, comb. nov., Donnellia asiatica (Tixier) B.C. Tan & Z. Iwats. ex S. He, comb. nov., Phyllodon similans (Bosch & Sande Lac.) S. He, comb. nov., and Weissia longifolia var. poilanei (P. de la Varde) S. He, comb. nov.
