Myanmar Cretaceous amber new genus Berothidae Neuroptera

Abstract

A new genus with a new species Anaberotha hui gen. et sp. nov. is described from mid-Cretaceous amber of northern Myanmar. Anaberotha gen. nov. has distinctive features of venation, which is closely related to other genera in the subfamily Cyrenoberothinae, such as Aggregataberotha Wang et al., 2023, Protoberotha Huang et al., 2019, Sibelliberotha Azar & Nel, 2013 and Speleoberotha Machado et al., 2022. Accordingly, Anaberotha gen. nov. may represent a unique evolutionary path of Cyrenoberothinae in mid-Cretaceous Myanmar.
