Abstract

Currently there are only 55 species of Tardigrada known from China, and the taxonomic status of 11 of these is questionable. During 1936-37 Rahm and Mathews reported 33 species from what was then China. Bartoš and Pilato reported another 8 species (2 new to China plus 6 new to science) in the 1960’s and 1970’s. The most recent papers regarding the Tardigrada of China were published in the 1990’s by Beasley and Cleveland (1996), Beasley (1999), and Yang (1999) who described 4 species new to science plus 10 new records from China.

Key words: China, Fauna, Eutardigrada, Heterotardigrada, Tardigrada
