Abstract
A precise terminology is proposed for the distinction between different categories of onymotopes (type localities) in zoological nomenclature. To illustrate these new terms, we give concrete examples taken from nomina of African amphibians. In the course of working on these examples, we are led to designate a lectophoront (lectotype) for the frog species Xenopus petersii Bocage, 1895.
