Abstract
The cicada genus Chalumalna Boulard, 2001 and its type species Chalumalna martinensis Boulard, 2001 were originally described in a book of conference proceedings. The abbreviated descriptions hsave led to problems with the application of the taxa as well as trying to determine the higher taxonomy. The genus and type species are redescribed and illustrated and the current higher taxonomy determined with this work in an effort to provide detailed information for future applications and determination of the taxa. The genus Chalumalna is reassigned to Lamotialnini Boulard, 1976 based on the presence of conjunctival claws on the aedeagus and the lack of a developed uncus. Brevialavenosa Sanborn, 2021 and Chrysolasia Moulds, 2003 are shown to be members of Lamotialnini as well, expanding the tribal distribution to include the Caribbean, South and Central America.
