Abstract
In this study, we summarize the taxonomy of the hygrophilous damsel bug subgenus Limnonabis Kerzhner, 1968 of the genus Nabis Latreille, 1802 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Nabidae: Nabinae: Nabini) from Japan. This subgenus currently comprises four described species, including a new species, namely, N. (L.) demissus (Kerzhner, 1968), N. (L.) marihygrophilus sp. nov., N. (L.) sauteri (Poppius, 1915), and N. (L.) ussuriensis (Kerzhner, 1962). The new species described herein was collected from estuarine wetlands in cool-temperate regions of northern Japan (Hokkaido and northern Honshu) and can be distinguished from other species of the subgenus mainly by the shape of the forewing and paramere. Additionally, N. (L.) sauteri is recorded from Kyushu and Tsushima Island for the first time. An illustrated key is presented to facilitate the identification of the Japanese species of Limnonabis.
