Abstract

A new material of Dolichopodidae from Sakhalin has been recently found in the collection of the Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Petrozavodsk, and includes 14 species. Dolichopus humalai Grichanov sp. nov., from southern part of the Island, is described and illustrated and associated with the Dolichopus acuticornis/longicornis group of species. The new species resembles in habitus D. acuticornis, differing from the latter in arista-like stylus arising before middle of dorsal side of antenna, entirely yellow scape, postpedicel wide, and hind tibia and basitarsus yellow. Dolichopus acuticornis males have arista-like stylus arising between apex and middle of dorsal side of antenna, almost entirely black scape, pointed at apex postpedicel, black at apex hind tibia and entirely black hind tarsus. Dolichopus pennatus Meigen habitation on the Island is confirmed, and Gymnopternus ussurianus (Stackelberg) is reported from Sakhalin for the first time. Now 75 long-legged fly species are known from the Island.
