Taxonomy Dorachosa Carinetini new species revised species status

Abstract

The cicada genus Dorachosa Distant, 1892 is distributed throughout the Neotropical region. Dorachosa mesomexicana sp. nov. is described. The most similar species, Dorachosa lugubrina compostelensis (Davis, 1938), is elevated to species status here to become Dorachosa compostelensis (Davis, 1938) stat. rev. after a detailed comparison to Dorachosa lugubrina (Stål, 1864).
