Abstract
A new species of the genus Psithyristria Stål, 1870 (Hemiptera: Cicadidae: Cicadinae: Psithyristriini), Psithyristria parapeculiaris sp. nov., is described from Santa Rosa, Luzon, Philippines. This species is morphologically most similar to Psithyristria peculiaris Lee & Hill, 2010, sharing several diagnostic characteristics, including a markedly elongated CuA2 vein, a sub-basally concave R+Sc vein, and uncal lobes each terminating in a pair of similarly sized spines. However, P. parapeculiaris sp. nov. can be distinguished from P. peculiaris by its broader marginal area of the forewing, the shape of the forewing M+CuA vein, the comparatively larger ulnar cell 3, and differences in the shape of spines of the uncal lobes.
