scuttle fly Phoridae new record saprophagous neotype

Abstract

In a recent survey of saprophagous scuttle flies in the states of Negeri Sembilan and Johor of Peninsular Malaysia, Megaselia ochracea (Brues, 1911) (Diptera: Phoridae) was discovered. Examination on several adult specimens including those cultured from female M. ochracea gave the first description of its hitherto unknown male. This is also the first evidence that M. ochracea can be found outside Taiwan.

Key words: scuttle fly, Phoridae, new record, saprophagous, neotype
