Abstract
A new long-legged fly species, Lichtwardtia guineensis Grichanov sp. nov., from the Nzérékoré Province of Guinea, is described and illustrated. Males of the new species are similar to L. angulicornis Grichanov, from Ivory Coast, but differ in face colour, postpedicel shape, and features of the male genitalia. In addition, 13 species are listed for the Republic of Guinea, of which, eight are reported from the country for the first time: Apelastoneurus nigeriensis (Grichanov), Lichtwardtia angularis (Macquart), L. angulicornis Grichanov, L. fractinervis (Parent), L. microlepis (Parent), Pseudopelastoneurus diversifemur (Parent), Sympycnus du Curran and Sympycnus minor Parent. As a result, the dolichopodid species number in Guinea has increased to 14. It is supposed that the real number of Guinean species may reach 50 to 100 species, based on the faunal richness of adjacent countries.
