Abstract

Using mainly data from bibliographic records and revision of some specimens deposited in institutions and private collections, an updated checklist of the checkered beetles (Coleoptera: Cleridae) of Peru is presented. The updated checklist includes 9 subfamilies, 40 genera and 163 species-group taxa. The subfamily Clerinae Latreille, 1802 and Peloniinae Opitz, 2010 and the genera Enoclerus Gahan, 1910 and Cregya LeConte, 1861 are most species-rich, while 36 species are known only from Peru. Each species listed includes its current name, synonyms, and regional/provincial distribution data. Additionally, photographs for some species are provided.
