Abstract
The genus Neoplatypleura Kato, 1926 stat. rev. in the tribe Platypleurini (Hemiptera: Cicadidae: Cicadinae), is revived as a valid genus to include four species from Southeast Asia: N. badia (Distant, 1888) comb. nov., N. insignis (Distant, 1879) comb. nov., N. nobilis (Germar, 1830) stat. rev., and N. vitreolimbata (Breddin, 1905) comb. nov. Two new genera, Planopleura gen. nov. and Tigripleura gen. nov., are described and placed in Platypleurini. Planopleura gen. nov.includes 12 species from Asia: P. albivannata (Hayashi, 1974) comb. nov., P. assamensis (Atkinson, 1884) comb. nov., P.dinagatensis (Lee, 2016) comb. nov., P. elizabethae (Lee, 2009) comb. nov., P. fuscangulis (Butler, 1874) stat. rev., comb. nov., P. kaempferi (Fabricius, 1794) comb. nov., P. kuroiwae (Matsumura, 1917) comb. nov., P. miyakona(Matsumura, 1917) comb. nov., P. ridleyana (Distant, 1905) stat. rev., comb. nov., P. takasagona (Matsumura, 1917) comb. nov., P. transitiva (Lee, 2021) comb. nov., and P. yayeyamana (Matsumura, 1917) comb. nov. Platypleura kaempferi fuscangulis Butler, 1874 and Platypleura kaempferi ridleyana Distant, 1905 are elevated to the species level to become Planopleura fuscangulis (Butler, 1874) stat. rev., comb. nov. and Planopleura ridleyana (Distant, 1905) stat. rev., comb. nov. A male of P. ridleyana is described for the first time. Tigripleura ggoma gen. & sp. nov. is described from Vietnam.
