Abstract

The type species of the previously monotypic genus Halteriphorus Parent, 1933 (Diptera, Dolichopodidae, Neurigoninae), H. mirabilis Parent, is redescribed. A second species, also from New Zealand, H. thorpei sp. nov., is described. Photos of habitus, illustrations of male and female terminalia, a distribution map of the species and an amended diagnosis for the genus are provided.
