Ecuador Neotropical Region new species taxonomy

Abstract

Cordyligasterini (Diptera, Tachinidae) are a New World tribe that has eight genera, including Neosophia Guimarães, 1982, which is an exclusive Neotropical genus with, until now, three described species from Brazil and Costa Rica. Herein, a new species of Neosophia, N. bella sp. nov., is described based on specimens of both sexes collected in Ecuador. In addition, a new generic diagnosis and an updated identification key to all known Neosophia species are given.
