Abstract

The genus Phymacysta Monte is revised and three new species are described: P. ecuadorensis new species from Ecuador, P. paragatun new species from Panama, and P. peruana new species from Peru. Herein, all extant species are diagnosed, a new key for species identification is provided, and lectotypes are designated for Leptostyla tumida Champion and Leptostyla vesiculosa Champion. Phymacysta tumida (Champion) is reported from Costa Rica, and Forestiera phillyreoides (Benth.) Torr., and P. vesiculosa (Champion) is reported from Colombia, Costa Rica, and Verbenaceae for the first time.
