Aceria plectrumscuti, a replacement species name for Aceria virgatae Lotfollahi et al. (Acari: Prostigmata: Eriophyidae)

Acari Prostigmata Eriophyidae

Abstract

Lotfollahi et al. (2013) described Aceria virgatae from a sample of Centaurea virgata Lam. (Compositae) collected in Iran. The name A. virgatae is preoccupied by a species previously described by Meyer (Smith) and Ueckermann 1996 and this name was skipped during our literature search. This latter eriophyoid species is associated with Polygala virgata Thunb. in the Polygalaceae (currently known as Polygala lancifolia A. St.-Hil. & Moq. according to The Plant List on-line database 2010).
