Hemiptera Fulgoromorpha

Abstract

The genus Discophorellus belonging to the family Cixiidae (Hemiptera: Fulgoromorpha), was established by Tsaur & Hsu (see Tsaur et al., 1991) with Discophorellus major Tsaur & Hsu, 1991 from China (Taiwan) as its type species. Later, Koçak & Kemal (2009) proposed a new replacement name Tsauria to Discophorellus Tsaur & Hsu, 1991 because the latter is a junior homonym of Discophorellus Wibmer & O’Brien, 1986 (Coleoptera). But, Discophorellus Tsaur & Hsu, 1991 is still used as valid generic name, Zhang & Chen (2011) described two new species of this genus from Guizhou Province, China, and they did not recognize homonym about Discophorellus. Here, two species described by Zhang & Chen (2011) designated under the genus Discophorellus are transferred to Tsauria, considering the fact that Discophorellus Tsaur & Hsu, 1991 preoccupied by Wibmer & O’Brien, 1986. So far, the genus Tsauria includes three species: T. major (Tsaur & Hsu, 1991), T. cehengensis (Zhang & Chen, 2011) and T. transspinus (Zhang & Chen, 2011).
