Abstract

The subterranean beetle genus Anthroherpon Reitter, 1889 stands for an iconic cave-adapted organism due to wide range of the morphological variability and the diversification of its species in the Central and Southern Dinarides. The monotypical genus Parantrophilon Noesske, 1914 is nested within the distribution area of Anthroherpon and it is also narrowly distributed. After a morphological study and comparison with the related material of the genus Anthroherpon Reitter, 1889, the synonymy of Parantrophilon to Anthroherpon is established. A redescription of the genus Anthroherpon Reitter, 1889 is given.
