Hemiptera Australia Elicinae new genus new species sternal sensory pit

Abstract

A new genus, Petocica gen. n., with a type species, Petocica perforata sp. nov., is described from vicinity of Leinster in Western Australia. A new species is peculiar by the presence of sensory pits on abdominal sternites IV–VI in adult female. The taxa of Fulgoroidea with sensory pits in adults and possible function of the pits are briefly discussed.
