Abstract

An examination of the Thyrididae material housed in the collections of the African Natural History Research Trust (ANHRT) has resulted in the discovery of five new species of Gnathodes Whalley, 1971 which are described in this paper: Gnathodes parallela sp. nov. (Cameroon), G. pallida sp. nov. (Liberia), G. ndoki sp. nov. (Republic of Congo), G. smithi sp. nov. (Liberia) and G. whalleyi sp. nov. (Liberia). The hitherto unknown female of G. fiscinella Whalley, 1971 is also illustrated and its genitalia described here for the first time.
