A new species and new records of Cephennomicrus Reitter on the island of Okinawa (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Scydmaeninae)

Coleoptera Cephenniini taxonomy new species Ryukyus Japan

Abstract

Thirteen nominal species of Cephennomicrus Reitter are currently known to occur in Japan, and five of them inhabit Okinawa-jima. One more Okinawan species, Cephennomicrus crypticus sp. n. is described. New distributional data are given for C. disjunctus (Jałoszyński, S. Arai & K. Arai), C. nagoanus Jałoszyński, and C. okinawanus (Jałoszyński, S. Arai & K. Arai). For comparative purposes, habitus and aedeagi of all species known to occur on Okinawa Island are illustrated.
