Abstract

A new scorpionfly, Panorpa pertica sp. nov. is described from the Amami Islands, Japan. This new species is morphologically similar to and has a similar late flight season to Panorpa brevititilana Issiki, 1929 of Taiwan. Panorpa pertica sp. nov. consists of two new subspecies, Panorpa pertica pertica ssp. nov. from Amami-Oshima Island and Panorpa pertica okadai ssp. nov. from Tokunoshima Island, respectively.
