Review of leafhopper tribe Cicadulini (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Deltocephalinae) from the Indian subcontinent with description of one new genus and three new species

Abstract

Genera and species of the leafhopper tribe Cicadulini known from the Indian subcontinent are reviewed, with diagnoses of genera and keys to included genera and species. A new genus Cassidonaea gen. nov. with Cassidonaea sinuata sp. nov. (from India: Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra), breeding on Cassia auriculata L. (Fabaceae), as the type species and two species C. bipunctata sp. nov. (from India: Karnataka) and C. quadripunctata sp. nov. (India: Karnataka) breeding on Dudonaea viscosa (L.) Jacq. (Sapindaceae) are described and illustrated. Galerius Distant is resurrected from synonymy with Doratulina Melichar, status rev. and redescribed and illustrated along with its type species G. indicatrix Distant and transferred to the tribe Cicadulini, placement nov. A checklist of genera and species of Cicadulini of the Indian subcontinent and key for their identification are provided.
