Abstract

The genus Spatulosia Toulgoёt, 1965 is re-described owing to the inclusion of three already-described species (Spatulosia africana (Hampson, 1900) comb. nov.; Spatulosia coronaria (Kühne, 2007) comb. nov.; Spatulosia gemina (Hampson, 1914) comb. nov.) and the discovery of four new species (Spatulosia meridionalis sp. nov.; Spatulosia occidentalis sp. nov.; Spatulosia pallida sp. nov.; Spatulosia scutulata sp. nov.). The genus is compared with similar or related genera and is validated with reference to probable synapomorphies. Its original Malagasy range is enlarged to include the whole of Sub-Saharan Africa.
