Abstract

Atydina, new genus, is established for Caridina atyoides Nobili, 1900, so far known only from two islands in Indonesia. It is characterized by the robust third and fourth pereiopods, and an inflated cylindrical appendix masculina on the male second pleopod. The new genus is compared to the related genera Atyopsis Chace, 1983 and Caridina H Milne Edwards, 1837. The monotypic genus is here described and illustrated in detail.
