Abstract
A new stygomorphic freshwater subgenus of Paramoera Miers, 1875, Ganigamoera subgen. nov., is described and compared with the four North Pacific subgenera and with allied Far Eastern representatives. The classsification of Ganigamoera subgen. nov. is based on two closely-related species: Paramoera (G.) myslenkovi sp. nov., from subterranean fresh waters of the Kievka River basin, and Paramoera (G.) tiunovi sp. nov., from a spring in the Solontsovaya River basin. The new species are identified by the presence of sternal humps, male genital papillae and modified pleopods 1–3. The second pleopod of males is sexually dimorphic. The affinity of the new species for their congeners is discussed, emphasizing morphological and biogeographical relationships.References
