Abstract

An annotated catalogue of the Muscidae (Diptera) of Siberia is given. The catalogue contains taxonomic and geographic information on 282 named species and subspecies, with a further 17 named or unnamed species for which the identifications require confirmation or revision. Taxonomic information for each species includes references to the original description, the type-locality, and the nature and depository of the primary type(s). Geographic information for each species includes all known records of Siberian localities and the published source for each of them. A comprehensive bibliography is included. The name Gymnodia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1863 is accepted as the valid name for the genus previously known as Brontaea Kowarz, 1873. Musca sugillatrix (Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830) is here treated as a nomen oblitum, and its junior subjective synonym Musca osiris Wiedemann, 1830, as a nomen protectum.
