Orthoptera Gryllotalpinae Gryllotalpellini slender mole crickets Central Amazon

Abstract

The genus Gryllotalpella is redescribed, and Gryllotalpella mendesi n. sp. is described from the Brazilian Amazon. The key to the species is also updated, and the status of the specimen identified as Gryllotalpella minor by Rehn in 1917 is clarified. Finally, a map with the distribution of the currently known species is provided, and the status of the species described in past centuries is discussed.
