A new species of genus Aeropedellus (Acrididae: Gomphocerinae) from China

Orthoptera Acrididae Gomphocerinae Aeropedellus new species

Abstract

The genus Aeropedellus (Hebard, 1935) was established in 1935 and is widely distributed across the Palearctic region, with 22 known species. A new species, Aeropedellus ganziensis Chen & Li sp. nov., has been collected in the Ganzi, Sichuan, China. The species similary to Aeropedellus changtunensis (Yin, 1984), but difference in: 1) the width of the median vein area is two times that of the cubital vein area; 2) the lower margin of the female ovipositor valves with a row of small teeth; 3) tegmina reached the base of epiproct. The holotype specimen is preserved at the College of Life Sciences, Hebei University.
