Abstract

Beetles of the genus Pselaphacus Percheron, 1835 (Coleoptera: Erotylidae) are associated with the basidiomes of various macrofungi species. The genus includes 30 described species, all of which are Neotropical, with 14 species recorded in Brazil. Pselaphacus has never undergone a comprehensive taxonomic revision, and current information is largely limited to original descriptions, which often focus on basic coloration and a few morphological traits. In this study, we present new data on previously unexamined structures within the genus (e.g., male and female abdominal terminalia, mouthparts, metendosternite), as well as on host fungi and the life cycle of Pselaphacus signatus Guérin-Méneville, 1841, and Pselaphacus dentatus Germar, 1824. Detailed descriptions and diagnostic characteristics are provided for both adults and immatures of these two species.
