Abstract
Taxonomic revision of the genera Masaris Fabricius, 1793 and Quartinia André, 1884 from Central Asia, with description of three new species, is provided. The revision revealed that the genus Masaris contains four species: M. carli von Schulthess, 1922, M. gussakovskii Kostylev, 1935, M. longicornis (Kuznetzov, 1923), and M. tianshanicus Panfilov, 1968; the genus Quartinia contains 10 species: Q. chlorotica (Morawitz, 1888), Q. funebris Kostylev, 1935, Q. kozlovi Fateryga, sp. nov., Q. mikhaili Fateryga, sp. nov., Q. mongolica (Morawitz, 1889), Q. popovi Richards, 1962, Q. pusilla Kostylev, 1935, Q. shestakovi Kostylev, 1935, Q. sovietica Fateryga, sp. nov., and Q. uzbeka Kostylev, 1935. Hitherto unknown males of Q. chlorotica, Q. popovi, and Q. pusilla, as well as hitherto unknown female of Q. uzbeka are described. Quartinia popovi is reported from Uzbekistan for the first time. An identification key and maps detailing the geographic distribution of all species of the genera Masaris and Quartinia in Central Asia are presented. Male genitalia are illustrated for all species of Quartinia (except Q. kozlovi, for which the male is unknown). Flower-visiting records are summarised for all species for which they are available.
